RK Design

Seriously loving the work of Riikka Kantinkoski of Weekday Carnival and the creative driving force behind RK Design for Society 6. These pieces seem to be popping up a lot lately.

I would describe these pieces as cutting edge, modern prints with a quirky twist. They look great framed up on any wall or as shown above, resting on your kitchen bench.

Ahoy Trader at Republic Home

Most people who know me personally would sum me up somewhat as a dreamer. I don’t know if that is a good thing or not… bad I think, isn’t it? Who knows, I’ll roll with it either way. Well it turns out that top of my dream list at the moment is one of the incredible Ahoy Portholes made in Byron Bay Australia by the super talented Jai Vasicek.

And for all of you New Zealanders out there who like me, originally thought, stink, I am not heading to Byron Bay any time soon, don’t fret because the amazing team at Republic Home in Ponsonby stock these and will send them straight to your door step. Limited supplies so get in quickly.

These ceramic Portholes are a result of a childhood spent sailing the world on Jais family yatch and a wee stint living in Brazil. It is really no surprise that the ocean is a current source of inspiration for Jai.

So whilst you are online placing your order at Republic Home for an Ahoy Porthole why not check out the rest of the store. Republic Home, built on a desire to provide design conscious customers with original pieces, does just that. With a reputation for not only stocking the coolest looking home wears and furniture but also incredible quality, Republic Home will exceed your expectations no end.

Superette Store Home

It is no secret that I am a massive fan of Superette Store, being lucky enough to guest blog for them on the odd occasion. I love the direction these guys are going in and would put them up there as one of the businesses to watch in New Zealand. They seem to be hitting the nail on the head every time. So you can imagine my excitement when a parcel arrived at my door step a couple of weeks ago from the swell team at the Superette HQ. Thank you thank you thank you.

Think Chevron prints, neon and brights, deer hides and industrial, pretty yet edgy. The coolest Turkish towels for your summer beaching by Ottoloom. The best range of Pony Rider that you have ever seen. Books galore to make any coffee table swoon.

Thinks spots and floral, black and gold, throws and cushions. Imagine the latest and maddest range from Kip & Co. Evie Kemp is right in amongst and throw in a touch of Aura and House Doctor and why wouldn't you love it? Think of the fashion that Superette Store stock and times the cool factor by 10. Now that is what I am talking about. How could your home not look good decked out in the latest home wear get up from Superette.

And while we are on the subject of Superette Store, have you checked out their blog before. You really should! Here are a couple of my favorite images as seen on the Superette Store Blog.

Love From Friday

I think I have mentioned before that I am on a bit of mission (slow mission) to move Frankie out of the new born room and into a bigger room hence the reason I often feature kids products at present. And then I also think that I have mentioned before (probably several times) that I am a bit of bed linen addict. I love bed linen as it is so easy to change when you get sick it. Also you can base a whole room around the linen that you choose to use on the bed.

Well, one company who I believe is going from strength to strength is New Zealand company Love From Friday.

Boys will be boys duvet set featuring the orange dot cushions and pillow

Circles of fun girls duvet set featuring red with pink polka dots pillow

Owner Jane combined her interior design skills, passion for colour and love for beautiful childrens room and so Love From Friday began. Fabric is sourced from all over the world and made and designed in Janes home town of Wellington.

Watch this space as Love From Friday grows going from strength to strength.

Happy hump day to you all.

Monochrome apartment living

A quick post this morning as I am up early trying to finish assignments off. Here is a pretty rad example of a wee apartment displaying great use of monochrome tones. And that floor... AMAZE!

However, as much as I loved stacked artwork rested between the floor and the walls, I am not so sure that would sit well in my household at the moment. Wee Frankie is into pulling everything out/down whatever you call it. And as a matter of fact, broke my favorite dish in the house last week. Hubby and Mum keep telling me that you have to change your house around to suit a baby. I am telling myself and them it is just a faze. I will teach her, she will grow out of it and I am not going to put every cool thing away in my house because of babies! Selfish? Or brave?

Any who, how about that cool work space nook. Love the stool and that light. I am not so sure about the black leather sofa. I have never been a massive black leather sofa girl. perhaps I would go for a linen look sofa. Again, risky with babies. (you can wash them right?) The other thing that I would do here is pop more colour on the wall. Nothing to out there, just enough to add interest!

Below is how you can achieve this look in your own home using a few selected pieces from my favorite store, Father Rabbit.

Have a great day.

New photos and a wee thank you to you all

I am excited to share with you some new images of the Milo and Mitzy 100% New Zealand Wool Chunky Knit throws. Firstly I must mention photographer Sarah Horn for taking these awesome images for me and to Madisons in Napier for allowing us to use their amazing location. Now I do realise that in my part of the world we are heading into summer. However these are not just for snuggling into come winter time. (although that is pretty darn good) These look super swell on the end of the bed or draped over a chair or sofa in the rain or shine. I have had several people purchase these off me as wedding presents which is a pretty fine idea.

We have these throws available in charcoal, natural ivory, natural fawn and navy, black and grey to come. They measure up at 1 by 1.5 metres and cost $350. Amazing value for the huge chunky knit throw and the amount of effort and wool that goes into these.

Message me for more details. We do offer lay by and can talk to you about various colours and sizes should you be after something else. miloandmitzy@gmail.com

I also want to take this time to thank you all for the amazing support I have had with these throws. I didnt realise what a cut throat industry this can be. I am no good at confrontation so to be hit with that in the past couple of weeks threw me a bit but it also proved to me the huge amount of support that I have and has made me more determined to work harder than ever.

Happy Monday.

The Mighty Wishbone Chair

Gosh, dining chairs come and go in fashion like you wouldn’t believe. Every time you check out what is hot there seems to be a new style emerging. Don’t get me wrong, I am still pretty hooked on CafĂ© Style Tolix chairs but it is the trusty Wishbone Chair which has caught my eye of late.

My pick of these images would have to be the 4th from the top. That table featuring Wishbone chairs in front of that roaring fire with the white brick wall backdrop. Hard to beat a brick wall. Here in New Zealand you can purchase your own Wishbone chair here.

Stay tuned for more excitement coming out on the blog today.

I have always adored Annabell Kutucu hence the reason I am head over heels for this newly transformed apartment in Vienna...
