House Tour

Happy hump day. A busy few days in my world. Heading away in a couple of weeks and I am counting down the minutes. Todays house tour particularly caught my eye because of that rad kitchen dining area.

I am a massive fan of the black cabinetry, the kilim rug, that rustic table and those white kitchen tiles. This incredible home was built in just four months and really does do justice to the talented lady, single Mum and Co Founder of Swedish homes company Birkaboo that is behind it all.

What is so cool about this home is the fact that they have kept the base simple. Black, white and concrete and from there added personality such as the gorgeous rugs cushions and artworks.

Green with Envy lighting

We moved into our newly refurbished house last March. Don't get me wrong, I love it. The previous owners did such a good job. When you are married to a farmer it is about the farm not the house, so we were very lucky to get both an awesome farm and house. There are things that I would change but that is just to suit my style really. For example I really would love white walls but ours are a quarter tea. They look great but that's just the fussiness in me coming out.

Another smaller change that I want to make is to do with the lighting. The current lighting in our open plan living and kitchen area are lots and lots of small lights fitted into the ceiling. I am happy with this but to add character I am hoping to get an electrician in sometime in the future to hang two pendant lights above my breakfast bar. I have been on the hunt for the perfect light for sometime now and I think I have just found it.

These gorgeous metal, copper and wood pendant lights from Green with Envy would fit perfectly. I am mad about the white one but the copper is very cool too.

Do check out the other gorgeous lighting options from Green with Envy. So much to lust after.

Home Tour

Oh lordy, I have fallen in love with this gorgeous home like you wouldn't believe. This is my kind of modern. I spotted this home whilst browsing through a recent Inside Out Magazine.

Husband and wife Andrew Benn an architect and Alice Penna an interior designer call this award winning house, home.

Next door, through an interconnecting door, lives Andrews mother. This link could prove very beneficial when the couple look to eventually sell.

A little beach, a little retro with all of the modern day to day comforts, this is one stylish place to call home that is for sure.

Leather Planters

How are amazing are these leather planters, the latest addition to the Lightly Assemblages Collection? I don't have the desire to kit my whole house out in indoor plants, just the odd one here and there. This amazing leather planter would be exactly what I would use to showcase my greenery. Shop here.

Happy Tuesday. For those of you whom have just headed back to work this week, I hope you are coping and heres to a brilliant year. Please do keep those submissions coming through with your works that you think may fit on Milo and Mitzy. I do really enjoy receiving your emails. Email miloandmitzy@gmail.com

The Grove Byron Bay

A friend asked a question yesterday about accommodation in Byron Bay. One thing led to another and after a bit of research I came across the most incredible place - The Grove Byron Bay. I had previously seen some images of The Grove kitchen but on further inspection the whole darn place is beyond amazing.

The use of natural materials gives that ultimate Byron beach vibe and that concrete bench top with the large bi folding windows is a definite winner in my eyes.

Those bathroom tiles are just insanely good and work nicely with the heavy duty bench top. Add netting around your bed to achieve that summer feel and scatter storage baskets around the place and there you have it, your home acts as a get away. Bu seriously, who can argue with me here? The Grove Byron Bay has nailed it in terms of relaxed luxury accommodation. Thanks to Simone of Style.life.home for introducing me.

Lucky for us, Freedom Furniture is bang on trend. Get this look using pieces from Freedome Furniture such as these that I have used above.

Modern House Tour

Its funny how individual style changes. My style over the past couple of years has changed somewhat. I am not sure whether this is due to having toddlers running around in my home now, but I find myself being drawn to the less or more approach these days. I used to be someone that displayed all that was special to me - in a round about way. I also was very much an industrial, vintage, country kind of girl and while I still fancy these styles I find myself being drawn more and more to the clean, modern look.

So the attraction for me to this home is the clean, modern lines. The open living and the feeling of ease and simplicity. The brief for this home was practical barefoot living. Situated on Sydneys Coastline, that easy coastal vibe has been achieved in a modern way.

AND ... what I just adore about this home are the gorgeous bird prints. So cool! You can pick up very similar from Endemic World. On my wish list is one of the gorgeous Margaret Petchell prints. They make such a statement.

Summer Entertaining

Jeepers 2015?!! Can you believe how quickly the past year went? I just want to say a huge thank you to all of my regular readers and a big welcome to all of my new readers. It blows me away to see how much Milo and Mitzy has grown in the past year. Last year was a hugely busy year for us. Starting a new farming business with my husband, having 2 babies in the house and teaching 2 or 3 days a week in the classroom, life was crazy hence the sporadic blog posts. We have big things in store for you this year. A couple of new projects on the go with some serious bloggy goals being set!

Summer to me is all about good food wine friends and family. You will all know by now that being in the kitchen is a passion of mine. (Not so good for the 2015 health kick!) I love nothing more in summer than to entertain and be entertained. Don't get me wrong, I am not one of those fancy schmancy entertainers, for me it is more about the company, but if I was, I would definitely be setting my table out a little something like this.

broste COPENHAGEN, one of Scandinavia’s leading interior brands, based in Copenhagen really has nailed it here. Seriously! May Time Marketing represent broste COPENHAGEN in both New Zealand and Australia. Check here for store locaters or try for Tessuti for more gorgeous dinner wear products. (I am in the market for new dinner wear so do let me know of others that you think I may like)

I also couldn't help but add a few delicious nibbles onto this post. As a lover food, nibbles and starters are just as important and a great conversation starter seeing ladies swapping recipes by the end of the night.

Happy Monday. Cheers to summer and good things that lie ahead.
