Monday Mix Up

Happy Monday to you all. We had a nice quiet one, a bit of tennis, a bit of gardening and the likes. Back to school for everyone today. Good luck to all of you scrambling Mummas trying to get kids out the door.  Todays post, a bit of a Monday mix up, a home tour, my latest homewares picks and a touch of fashion thrown in. All inspired by my love of summer and my growing desire to own a Beach House of my own when I grow up! :)

First up is this incredible beach house situated on one of Sydney's beautiful Northern beaches. The monochrome mixed with oriental touches is right up my alley for  modern summer living. Give me a glass of gin and a book there any day. Ill be as happy as anything.

Next up are a few of my favourite things from The Wooden Horse. Gorgeous products which would go perfectly in the above beach house. In fact, The Wooden Horse is full of so much goodness, you would be silly not to check it out.

And lastly I am digging this Audrey Visor from New Zealands popular brand The Brim label. Essential to go with all of the above.

People behind the brand - Rickie Dee, Superette

Im stoked to be bringing back our People Behind the Brand interviews which I know you guys love. To kick things off for 2016 we have the super duper stylish, amazingly inspirational Rickie Dee of Superette.

Tell us about Superette, how and why did it all begin for you?

It all started 13 years ago when my business partner (James Rigden) and I were 21. We were on a mission to be our own bosses so the concept started there and a trip to Australian fashion week. Being so young we didn't think too much and just made it happen.

How does a normal day unfold for you?

It is busy (to say the least) I try and go to the gym at the crack of dawn before the kids (Rocco 7, Hawk 4, Kai 1) wake and then it is on to sussing breakfast, lunches etc so we can leave the house by 8am. Once the kids are at school and kindy, I begin the drive to work with a coffee and try and kick the day off at my desk with a list.

Who or what inspires you?

Travel, Magazines, Blogs and my amazing Superette family.

What do you think the trick is to running a successful business here in New Zealand?

Work hard and keep at it. Owning a business anywhere is never easy but if you love what you are doing and are passionate about it the good will always outweigh the tough times.

What are you reading right now, books, magazines, websites, blogs?
I am not a book reader as just dont have the time, but love magazines. Elle, Vogue, Russh, Inside Out, etc etc.

Your fashion style and your interior style, explain them to us.

My fashion style does change day to day depending on my mood. I tend to be quite busy in my role so need to be comfy, but like to be dressed up at the same time. I am a fan of leather jackets, jeans, perfect tees, flat boots or on a day when Im not running around - heels.

My interior love at the moment is white. All white everything. I like our home to have a beach & natural vibe so it feels like you are on holiday. I am also a fan of interior plants in every room.

We are visiting your local area for a day, can you suggest what we can do?

Definitely start the day at Dizengoff. The best breakfast & in Auckland. Then of course I would suggest visiting one of the Superette stores to pick up some of the new arrivals. Then perhaps a late lunch or dinner at depot for a wine or two and oysters.
And Lastly, what are you cooking for guests right now?

BBQ’s. We are trying to make the most of our summer and eating out on the deck most nights.

Thank you, thank you. The best. xxx

Californian Cool

How cool is this hill top Californian home? All that I imagine a Californian home would be and more.  I am dreaming of owning a summer home one day. And if I did, the kitchen could look somewhat similar to this. (Wishing) Very awesome to say the least.

Pop back later today, Im hoping to kick off our much loved "People behind the brand" interview series. Our first up is a real goody and an absolute inspiration. You know me though, depends on the toddlers whether this may or may not happen.

Milo and Mitzy family holiday

This is something new for me on the blog. I share my own photos over on Milo and Mitzys instagram but never usually on here, because A, I am camera less at the moment thank you to the toddler for dropping it in the sand and B, I am no photographer. (Although I did ace bursary photography, about the only subject!) But I just had to share these couple of images from our recent break away at a local beach that we visit frequently.

Sorry if you see your bach featured, I snuck around at about 6.30 in the morning to take these. A compliment though as I must LOVE your bach. Actually I do!

Above is the amazing historic woolshed that sits beachfront, regularly hosting locals for various events.

Also the hubby off for a surf on a couple of different occasions, using nothing but our Ottoloom towels because yes, we are Ottoloom snobs and little miss is kitted out in her cool little Noch Mini twill romper from Dapper Mr Bear.

Such an amazing few days. Sad to be home to be honest. Back into it though right?

Homemade summer treats

I am all about homemade ice blocks and ice cream at the moment. How good are they? Especially when they look like this.  Pop over here for the ice block recipe and pop here for the ice cream recipe.

Kids room makeover

Happy Thursday to you all. I am spending the day packing up as we head away for a short break to the beach tomorrow. CANT.FLIPPEN.WAIT!

I am also in the process of giving the kids rooms a mini make over. Unbelievable the amazing kids rooms out there at the moment. Thankfully Dulux have all of the colours that I am after and more. An incredibly overwhelming task choosing colours as Dulux have so so many to choose from. Luckily for me, I was able to communicate with Tina of Roomie who is a Dulux colour consultant. She is online to talk to at certain times of the week. I found this a really useful tool to have available especially for such an amatuer like me!

While I am pretty sure I know what I am doing for Frankies room, I am still searching for inspiration for Patchys room.  I am loving these two rooms particularly with the mustard colour, wooden and cane textures throughout.  Watch this space.

Eclectic Home tour featuring Indie Home Collective

Happy Monday to you all. I hope the weekend was all and more that you were after. We had a nice relaxed one with a bit of swimming and beaching.

Now you know me, I love an eclectic mix of things in homes. After going through a real minimal stage, im now swaying back to collecting the odd vintage and industrial piece for my home... well trying to. I have several fab second hand stores around my area. Seriously, I walk in and its like my brain freezes, I get overwhelmed and forget what I am looking for. Gahh dam it! I used to be so good at it too! Anywho, what I am doing right is saving some gorgeous eclectic homes to share with you all. At least I got that bit sorted, right?

This one caught my eye particularly because of the eclectic mix going on. I am loving the white wooden floor boards that adorn kilim rugs. The fact that they have used modern chairs around their antique dining table is a clever move and how can I go past that mix of living room chairs paired with that navy sofa. On point!

Speaking of unique one off pieces, you cant go past Indie Home Collective for adding individuality and style to your home. I am eyeing up their rad occasional chairs right now. Seriously if I could deck my home out in all Indie Home Collective, I would be one happy gal.

Home Tour

Not many words from me this morning. Unbelievable! those that know me are probably thinking. Im never short of words, buuutttt I need to get a crazy 2 year old out of the house and onto the farm as he doesn't particularly appreciate me sitting down at the computer for long.

I find that I still really appreciate modern interiors but my love for vintage/industrial will forever be with me. This home belonging to dutch couple Arjan and Irene found thanks to Bolig ticks all of the boxes. Modern in terms of fittings and comfort decorated with gorgeous industrial and vintage décor.

How amazing are those floors, curtains, furniture..... gahhhh! The whole dam lot really. Im dreaming! Anywho, over and out as we head out into the wind wearing wooly hats in January! What the??? But I shall be back this afternoon with an exciting competition for you all.
